Blossom: Because someone cared.

Blossom will help children in Simpson and Copiah counties know their worth and grow into their potential, by meeting everyday needs and surrounding them with caring adults who believe in them.

Why Blossom

More than handing out items

Resources here are so scarce that many parents go without so their children can have some things. Blossom will be how our community shares that load, so no parent has to carry it alone.

A child who walks into school in new shoes, with a fresh cut and a full backpack, after an adult looked them in the eye and said “you matter,” carries that into the classroom. It carries forward our founding mission: helping children build a sound and limitless sense of their own worth.

Who it's for: children ages 3 to 17 in Simpson and Copiah counties, starting with families we have served. The first year is a pilot, January to December 2027.

What we plan to offer

Everything a child needs to start strong

Blossom Day

A back-to-school day with new shoes, backpacks with supplies, hygiene kits and a clothing closet, plus free haircuts and simple styles by licensed stylists and barbers.

Blossom Closet

A clothing drive with new and gently used clothes. Underwear and socks will be new only. Children will choose their own items, store-style.

New shoes

New athletic shoes, fitted to each child, so they can play, run and feel proud.

Basic needs

Hygiene kits, school supplies, new books each child keeps, and winter coats.

Food

Blossom families will get priority for food boxes when the food program restarts.

Blossom Circle

A monthly gathering for ages 8 to 17 with a meal or snack, a short talk on careers, money basics or serving your community, an activity and a take-home goal. Always at least two screened adults. Plus “I AM” affirmation cards and Bloom Awards for effort, attendance and kindness.

Our promises

To children and families

  • Dignity first. Sizes will be collected privately and children will choose their own items where we can.
  • Safety. Background checks for adults who work with children, and no adult alone with a child, ever.
  • Privacy. We never post children's names or photos without written consent.
  • Open to all. Blossom grows out of our faith: we serve because we were first loved. It will be open to every child and family regardless of religion, race or background. No one has to attend a service, pray or listen to a message to get help. Any prayer time is optional and separate.

Be the someone who cared.

Parents here give up so much for their children. Stand beside them. Donate, organize a drive at your church or business, or volunteer. We need mentors, licensed stylists and barbers, shoe fitters, sorters and event helpers.
